Administration of Justice Studies
About The Program
Scottsdale Community College's Administration of Justice Studies Program prepares students for careers in the criminal justice system, enhances the skills of those already employed within it, offers non-criminal justice students interesting courses to incorporate into their degree programs and provides others with individual courses to take for personal enrichment. The Administration of Justice Studies Program accomplishes these goals by offering a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree in Administration of Justice Studies, a number of Certificates of Completion in Crime Scene Technology and Police Academy Preparation, and Justice Studies.
The Two-Year Associate Degree
The two-year Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Administration of Justice Studies consists of sixty credits (about twenty courses). Of the twenty courses, fifteen are criminal justice courses and the remainder consist of basic college courses in English, math, critical reading, communications, and a lab science.
Most or even all of the courses you take as part of the two-year AAS degree will transfer to the Justice Studies or Criminal Justice Programs at Arizona State University, Arizona State University West or Northern Arizona University, if you choose your courses with advice from SCC's Administration Of Justice Studies Director and Academic Advisor Dr. John Kavanagh. Transfer of credit to the University of Arizona is not as complete because they do not have a criminal justice program. Transfer to other colleges and universities depends upon the particular college.
