The last double header of the season determines which team will head to the Division 2 playoffs. In the games against South Mountain, Sasha Wilson shined at the plate with 4 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run. April 9, 2007 SCOTTSDALE HAS BREAK OUT WEEK, WINS FOUR STRAIGHT: Stacy Waite led the Artichokes in 14-13 and 4-2 wins over Paradise Valley Community College. Waite had 4 hits on 7 at bats with 4 runs scored along with 3 RBIs. In the double header sweep over Gateway Community College, pitching proved key. The first game saw Debbie Shisler give up merely one earned run off of 5 hits, combined with 9 strikeouts. Leah Fineman pitched 3 innings in a 7-0 forfeit by Gateway, giving up only 2 hits and no runs. April 2, 2007 SOFTBALL DROPS DOUBLE HEADERS TO CENTRAL, CHANDLER-GILBERT: In 10-1 and 3-0 losses to Chandler-Gilbert, Krista Armstrong paced SCC with 2 hits on 5 at bats. In the 3-2 and 8-0 losses to Central, Debbie Shisler shined at the plate with a 3-7 performance. March 16, 2007 SCOTTSDALE GOES 5-1 IN NON CONFERENCE PLAY: During Spring Break, the Lady Artichokes swept double headers against Kishwaukee College and Meramec College, while splitting with Division 1 Odessa College. In 12-2 and 10-5 wins over Kishwaukee, Stacey Waite led the Artichokes at the plate with 3 hits on 6 at bats, 2 RBIs, 5 runs, and 2 doubles. Casey Hawthorne had a banner performance in 14-0 and 8-0 wins over Meramec. In the games Hawthorne tallied 5 hits on 6 at bats, 3 runs, 4 RBIs, and 1 home run. In the 5-4 win and 7-4 loss against Odessa, Debbie Shisler paced Scottsdale with a 4 of 8 plate performance along with 1 RBI. March 1, 2007 SCOTTSDALE SPLITS WITH GLENDALE, WESTERN: The Artichokes again split double headers with both Glendale and Arizona Western. Against GCC, Scottsdale lost game one 6-0 only to come back and take game two 5-2. Against Western, the Artichokes grabbed game one 5-1 and dropped game two 6-0. Scottsdale also currently has three players ranked nationally in batting average ? Michelle Coldwell with a .421 average, Krista Armstrong with a .375 average, and Cristina Gonzalez with .364. February 24, 2007 SOFTBALL DROPS DOUBLE HEADER TO MESA, SPLITS WITH SMCC: The Artichokes went 1-3 for the week ending February 24, including two losses to conference topper Mesa CC and a double header split with South Mountain. In the game versus South, Debbie Shisler paced the Artichokes at the plate with a 5 for 7 performance including a double and a triple. Against Mesa, Casie Hawthorne led SCC in batting with 2 hits on 6 trips to the plate. February 13, 2007 SCOTTSDALE SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER WITH EAC: Eastern jumped out to a big lead early in the first game after costly errors by SCC, leading to a 12-4 loss. In the second game, Brittany Mills and Debbie Shisler combined for a shut-out in a 1-0 win for the Artichokes. January 27, 2007 SOFTBALL TAKES GAME OFF THREE-TIME NATIONAL CHAMP PHOENIX: Scottsdale scored five runs in the 7th and final inning to defeat Phoenix College in game one of a double-header. Sara Roskopf and Ciera Keeton paced the Artichokes in hits during the season-opener. In game one, Keeton had two hits while Roskopf added two hits and two bases on balls. Roskopf also drove in the final three runs with a base-clearing double to win the game 8-7. The winning pitcher was Debbie Shisler, who pitched 4 innings as a starter along with one inning as a closer. In a second game loss, Keeton led the team with a 2-2 performance at the plate.'Chokes Defeat South Mountain Twice: Scottsdale scored a 3-2 and 4-0 doubleheader sweep on the road at ACCAC foe South Mountain. Leah Fineman picked up the victory in game one, while Jackie Beener pitched the complete game. Scottsdale Battles Chandler-Gilbert in ACCAC Action: The Artichokes' Jackie Beener pitched an outstanding game in a 1-0 loss in the first game of the ACCAC doubleheader with Chandler-Gilbert. The second game was an offensive battle as the teams ended in a 9-9 tie when the game was called due to darkness. The teams will complete the game when they next meet. |
