Head Coach Katie Logan enters her second season coaching, first season as Head Coach at Scottsdale College. Last year Katie worked as an Assistant under former Head Coach Bob Swan.  Her efforts with the team had an impact as the 2008 fall season marked the most successful start in school history; compiling a 6-2 record. After departing mid-season last year to pursue playing professionally overseas, Katie returns to Scottsdale eager to take over the softball program.

“I am enthralled with this opportunity to continue my passion. Softball has been good to me and has taught me so much about people and life in general; now it is time to give back to the community. What a privilege it is to have the potential to make a difference in people’s lives. I am eager to strengthen and further develop Scottsdale Softball so that one day we can become a national contender.”

Katie hopes that her youth, enthusiasm and positive energy will give the program a fresh make-over. She comes back with a new perspective after living abroad for 4 months playing softball in the premier A1 Division Italian Softball League.  Katie finished her first season in the ISL ranking 16th overall in batting average and 1st in stolen bases for the league.

Prior to her tenure at Scottsdale, Katie played DI softball for Northwestern University.  She was a four year starter for the Wildcats and received First Team All Big Ten, First Team All NFCA Midwest Region and Big Ten All Tournament Team (‘06, ‘07); in addition to Vandy Christie Memorial Scholarship for leadership and inspiration.  As team captain, Katie led her team to the program’s first ever back-to-back Women’s College World Series where they placed 2nd (‘06) and 3rd (‘07); she also captured the highest batting average of all players in the 2006 WCWS batting .400.  She graduated from Northwestern (2007) and earned a BS Communications with a minor in Sociology.

Katie attended and played softball at local high school Corona del Sol. She was awarded First Team Tempe All City (’00-’03), First Team All East Valley Tribune (’00-’03), First Team All Region (’00-’03), and First Team All State (’02-’03). Senior year she led her team in achieving the school’s first ever 5A Division State Championship.

Katie also played club ball for Phoenix Storm under renowned Coach Bob Swan; who she coincidentally worked under last year. While playing with the Storm, Katie achieved 3rd (’00) and 2nd (’01) place at 16U ASA Nationals. She was invited to the Junior Olympic Tryouts (‘02).

Katie is the middle child and only daughter to John and Toni Logan. She currently resides in Tempe, Arizona.
