Staying Healthy: Preventing H1N1 Flu
How Germs Spread
Illnesses, like the flu, are caused by viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. The flu and colds usually spread from person to person when an infected person coughs and sneezes.
How to Help Stop the Spread of Germs
- Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
- Clean your hands often (washing, hand sanitizers).
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose, as germs can be spread to those areas.
- Stay home when you are sick and seek medical advice/attention when needed.
- Practice healthy habits (e.g., healthy eating, sleeping).
