Welcome to SCC's Recreation Program!

Welcome, SCC’s Recreation program provides numerous opportunities. For those looking for an outdoor adventure we offer various one credit outdoor activity classes; cross country skiing, rowing, kayaking, whites water rafting, rock climbing, backpacking, canyoneering, caving, outdoor survival, outdoor cooking and cycling. These classes require a basis level of fitness. There is an additional travel/activity cost ranging from $35 to $575 depending upon the activity. Each class has a one-time orientation meeting on campus and then the trip. Transportation, some food and equipment is provided. Anyone from the community can register for our outdoor adventure classes; you do not need to be enrolled in our Recreation Management Program! SCC students - check out our Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC).
Attention New Students! Need to work for 30+ years? May as well choose a fun and adventurous career - - Consider a Recreation Management degree offered at Scottsdale Community College. This degree offers; a certificate of completion program which prepares students for entry level positions, an AAS program which prepares students for entry level positions and provides a foundation for transferring to a four year college.
The demand for trained recreation and fitness workers is expanding as increasing numbers of people spend more time and money on recreation and leisure services. There are a variety of positions at different levels of responsibility which are needed. They include; recreation leaders, activity specialists/instructors, recreation supervisors, directors of parks & recreation and fitness centers, camp counselors, recreational therapists, fitness/athletic/personal trainers, park rangers, municipal/county/state parks and recreation departments, private resorts/clubs/spas, federal land management agencies, county, state, and federal correctional institutions, non-profit organizations, religious youth and adult organizations, hospitals, military installations, sporting goods manufacturers and trade associations, and travel and tour companies.
