Director and Staff
THERESE TENDICK
The Director of International Education Programs, Therese was born and raised in a small German town in Minnesota but has enjoyed the sights of the Arizona desert since 1981. She worked in International Graduate Admissions at Arizona State University for six years then moved on as Associate Dean of Admissions at Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, for nine years prior to starting the position of Director of International Education Programs here at SCC in 1999. Therese has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Iowa and a Master’s degree in International/Comparative Education from ASU. She enjoys meeting people of other cultures, reading, traveling, and learning languages (speak to her in Spanish!).
The International Student Advisor, Jennifer, has been at SCC since March 2000. She is originally from Maryland and has lived in Phoenix since 1996. She graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Advertising. She spent a year studying at the University of Nice, France and is always looking for francophones with whom she can practice her French. Jennifer has worked at ASU Downtown, interned in Multicultural Services at ASU West, and taught English as a Second Language through a private company in Tempe. When she is not working with international students, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, photography, and being outdoors in beautiful Arizona.
The Education Abroad/International Student Advisor, Jen, is originally from Wisconsin and has lived in Phoenix since 1999. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish (she's fluent, too!) and a Certificate in International Business. She studied at the Complutense in Madrid, Spain and also completed an internship in Maracay, Venezuela. Jen started her career in international education at Northcentral Technical College in Wisconsin as an International/Intercultural Specialist and then moved to Phoenix where she worked as the Latin America Program Manager for a study abroad agency. She has worked at SCC since April 2002. In May 2007, Jen received her Master of Arts degree in International Education from The School for International Training. Jen enjoys meeting people of other cultures, traveling, dancing, hiking, playing sports and going to movies.
Kathleen, Student Services Specialist and Global Artichokes Club Advisor, has been part of the International Education Programs office since 2002. She is originally from north East Germany by the Baltic Sea, so don't hesitate to sprechen Sie Deutsch with her. Originally, Kathleen came to Arizona on a foreign exchange program and returned as an international student to get two Associates degrees from SCC and a Bachelor's degree in Global Studies at Arizona State University! She likes giving back to the community; completing an internship with the International Rescue Committee and continues working/volunteering with refugees. Kathleen enjoys traveling, dancing, going to movies and spending time with her two dogs. She loves the Phoenix sunshine; but misses the ocean and beach.
