Heart to Heart Program
Heart to Heart is a group of journalism students assisting students who are in financial need and just need a little help to stay in school. It originated with the campus newspaper, the Scottsdale Chronicle, and it provides meals in cooperation with the cafeteria and bus passes to help students stay in school during a financial crisis.

We are seek donations from students, faculty and staff through tax-deductible monetary donations that can be made to the SCC Foundation in the name of Heart to Heart. Donations can also be payroll deductible.
We launched the program for Summer School 2009 and used all of our funding because many students are in need in the current financial climate. We could really use your donation to keep this program alive and serving as many student as are seeking assistance.
How the program works: Students self-identify through SCC's Counseling Office. Our faculty and staff help out by letting students know about the program. It only takes an initial meeting with a counselor to get assistance. We do this so that students are helped beyond a meal. We also have connections with food banks, shelters, scholarships and temporary financial assistance, so when a student meets with a counselor, as many needs as can be met will be put into motion at the meeting. After that, a student will receive one free meal a day per week depending upon the number of days he or she is taking courses on campus. The student does not have to meet with a counselor for the rest of the semester. The meal tickets will be released to the student weekly by administrative assistants in the Counseling Department. Names are not released beyond the Counseling Office and no forms are required for the student to be assisted by Heart to Heart. There may be forms for other programs.
