Hybrid Courses

Assistance on creating hybrid courses

Hybrid courses blend face-to-face instruction with Internet instruction and activities, usually resulting in a reduced number of classroom meetings. Basic computer skills are needed, as is regular Internet access. Many educators believe that this format blends the best of both “worlds”. Here are some resources to get you started in developing a hybrid course.

Ocotillo Resources

The Ocotillo group is the technology research, development and users' group at Maricopa Community Colleges. The hybrid course format has been extensively explored over the last two years by MCLI's former Ocotillo group. This link to the web site is full of articles and other resources: http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/ocotillo/hybrids/index.php.

Hybrid Dialog Day Presentation

Attached are some notes from the presentation on 3/30/07 by hybrid guru Polly Miller - and an audio podcast of her presentation. Here is the link to the EMCC web site on E-Learning, which includes information on their strategic approach to the adoption of e-learning: https://www.estrellamountain.edu/ctl/el_programDevelopment.asp
